"Personal thoughts, ramblings, and nonsense from Drew, himself."
My name is Drew Decker. I love developing web pages. That truly is my passion. Really don’t know why, but I seem to just be really good at it, and enjoy it enough to keep it going.
I love computers. Ever since I was fourteen years old, I have been interested in how they work and how to do this and do that. The first computer-related class I ever took in high school was Web Mastering. Loved the class, and I believe it was my first step into web design as a hobby.
As time went on, I got better, but not just interested in web design anymore. My interest expanded into other things like how the computer actually worked. How to build a computer, and what AGP, PCI, ISA, etc was. To me, knowing this was goal. So I studied, and researched and taught myself everything I know today. As a few years went by, I became very knowledgable in what I did; computer systems, hardware, web design, graphics design, programming concepts, etc. Web design was no longer a hobby for me and building computers was no longer free. I made a promise to myself that if I truly beleived my work was good, then I should sell it. So, that’s what I did.
DeckerD is the successor website of Dev-News. Dev-News was an old startup website that I designed countless times using bad markup and HTML tables for my layouts. Upon designing DeckerD, I grew out of my childish design concepts and dove into XHTML and W3C standards. It was time to code by the rules. As I have designed many “versions” of DeckerD, they were merely a glipse of what I became to know as my passion for web design. Each time I designed something new, I looked at it and knew I had gotten better. DeckerD to me is my passion and dedication to web design. To everyone else, it’s what I know and do best. Presently, I am still passionate about web design, but am now doing more than ever with computers. I am now looking into SysAdmin/Network Architech areas of interest, as well as my ongoing success of web design. I personally don’t think I will ever give web design up as anything. Someday it might go back from business to a hobby again; but never gone.
For when I am not all about computers, I am usually songwriting and/or playing guitar. I do a lot of writing in my spare time, mostly on web design and computer technologies, but none-the-less I enjoy it; helps me get out. I currently subscribe to three different magazines.
DeckerD; I can probably explain half of what it means, the other half is more concept. DeckerD – if you know me, my first name is Drew and my last name is Decker. So, being as creative as I could, came up with DeckerD.com. I found out that having the name I have is very VERY hard to be creative with. Deckered is the past tense of Decker. So if you have viewed my site then you have already done something, so you have been Deckered, or DeckerD. Like I said before, it’s more of a concept.
This site is pretty much everything on a personal level with my life, but also things with computers and other technologies. It’s my way of being professional at times and outspoken at others. Thank you, and enjoy.
