Enough talk, carry on.
Well last week, I finally got the call that IBM was looking for someone that could do Advanced Support in their AIX department, and they had accepted me as an employee. Great! Finally, a job. It’s not just a job, though, this could be my steping-stop; something to really get me in the door and make something of my life. I have plans for many things in life, but they all lead to one thing, success. Success is the key that unlocks every door to whom I become. So, where am I getting with this?
To everyone else, it’s just a job. To me, its my way of building up my skills and being able to show other employers that I have worked with some of the best, and most respected companies in I.T.. Like any company, it has its flaws, it’s what makes competition what it is today. By putting my foot in the door and getting a little taste of the real world, I start to see the way others around me act. I am the first to admit that when you get out into the world, you meet some very interesting people.
If I can put forth the effort and time to work at IBM, then I can strategically put together exactly what I want to do in this vast, changing career I find myself in love with. It’s not about how to build a computer anymore. It’s not about how much RAM I have. It’s about, what kind of VPN solution will support a fault-tolerant parallel network backbone built running a fiber optic backend using an AIX backend for a large-scale business that consists of 20 sites around the world. It’s not the basics anymore; its I.T..
This is what I mean by a steping stone. This gives me the chance the taste it, and grow up. That’s what IBM is about, to me. This is what I’m going to become; successful.
